Geocaching
My brother recently came into town and said I needed to check this out! He lent me his GPS and we started out to find our first Geocache! This is SO up my alley! It brings technology into a fun past time of treasure hunting, or orienteering! People from all walks of life hide and seek these Caches (pronounced cash). I logged in as a free member, then decided to upgrade ($30) for extra perks! It has been so worth it! My brother and I go around the corner our local park, and low and behold, the coordinates are leading us to a hidden cache. We review the name of the cache, read the hint and try to figure out where to locate the item. TaDa! I totally spotted it before my brother did! :) I was super pumped! We use our stealth skillz to get the container into our vehicle so we could log our visit. Plus, this one was a small Gatorade size container, so there were items in there that you could take one and replace with a trinket of yours. What are the odds, there is a magnetic letter G in it, so I take that one (due to it's my last name) and left a key-chain, while my brother took a playing card and left something of his. I'm talking trinkets... something to make you smile.
So, we start out on our next one... and YES, I found it! I think that one was just a log. We continued our secret treasure hunting and proceed to find many, just not all of the one we had hoped. Some are VERY cleverly hid! We had such a great time! It's definitely nice to get out of the house, off the couch, and playing a very fun game. Our biggest finds were a Travel Bug - that needed to get to Oklahoma, which was perfect, that's were my brother was going, and I found a Kansas Sunshine Geo Coin that wants to spread sunshine to many states! I even took my daughter to do it one day in a park, but it was pretty hot, we had to dodge PI and got a few chiggers. So, I think we'll wait for it to cool off a little before doing those. Until then, I found my 20th yesterday, and it just so happen to have a Travel Bug! YEA! I will send it on it's way soon! Now, I'm just getting some together for my daughter and I to do that are easy, Park and Grabs or just off the path, so that we stay free from plants and bugs! I love this! I hope to find at least 100 before the year is over! They also have night ones, you hunt with flash lights! Can't wait to try them out!
If you enjoy the outdoors, love the thrill of finding cleverly hidden items... check out their site! It's easy to sign up, just a few rules to follow and you're set! The hardest part is trying to be stealth, when it's a high traffic area! We don't want Muggles (people who are not playing the official game and decide to take the container and contents) to mess up our game. Good luck and let me know if you decide to participate! I'd love the feedback! Cheers!

Congrats on your first find. Sounds like your hooked. Have fun out there!

If you love outdoors, love the 'easter egg', treasure hunt feel, Check out the website at geocaching.com! You can join for free, check out what's around your zip code, or where you're traveling, download the cordinates to yout gps, make sure you use the hint or perhaps read the logs, which will contain spoilers, but is a HUGE help as a newbie... and you are on your way! Seriously! It is SUPER fun and I love the hunt, to find someone's hide! Some are just micros, where you just log your name, but others are small to regular containers, that will hold trinkets for trade, and possible some geocoins/bugs that want to travel! It for serious people only! If you find a coin or bug, make sure you get the history so that you can send it where it needs to go!
Let me know what you think! Hope this helps! :)
Take care!
